Old, dense-headed hammers are cool. Best nail pounders.

Estang, looks like you got some good prices...and the sellers didn't do so well (BVG is pretty expensive, no?)
What's your opinion on BVG? Do you have any x-over experience? I've crossed a couple of BGS cards and they did very well...but my one BVG try didn't go anywhere near as well.

My BVG crossover experience is 50%. I crossed 2 BVG cards to SGC. My 59 Topps Orlando Cepeda went from BVG 8 to SGC 88 but my 67 Topps Sutton BVG 7.5 came back as having evidence of trimming. Go figure, .

Scott,
I've had no experience crossing over BVG/BGS over to SGC. On those cards I will very likely leave them as is. I rather enjoy the BVG holders.
I have noticed that there's some good BVG deals out there. I think they can be too harsh on one sub-grade and throw off the entire final grade of a card because they say the lowest sub-grade can make the overall grade be just 1/2 point higher.
I realize that there are some sheet cut BVGs out there, but we've been through that and it doesn't bother me so much. Not preferrable, but they sure look sweet.

Erik,
I also think that the Beckett's slab isn't all that bad of a device. Of all of them out there, I think it is the most tamper-proof...and I like its mass...nice chunk of plastic.
My problem (again) goes back to storage...I've got PSA and SGC storage boxes, and can't bear the thought of another. I wish that all of the slabs were the same size -- it would make my life easier!

The BVG holders (I have a few but not many) fit nicely into the standard graded card storage boxes. In addition, the graded card sleeves I use for all my graded cards fit nice and snug around the bvg holder--it is a perfect fit.

I use the graded card sleeves on all of my SGC slabs and I think they fit just fine too.

The problem that I've had with BGS/BVG holders is that they scratch other ones if you store them next to another slab -- I don't use the baggies, I suppose they would eliminate this concern.
