I'm considering selling my 1951 Bowman Mantle, PSA 8 (oc). Any thoughts on the best way to go about it, whether through eBay or someone like Mastro. My sense is a high-profile auction house would bring a higher price, but my cost would be higher too. Any opinions appreciated on that, as well as what it might bring. The card is attached (large scan available at URL below)

Big Red Machine,
With all due respect, Mastro would not take this card. I doubt that any other firm that does graded cards(Superior, Brian Drent, Bill Goodwin) would either.
As far as value, the centering is so bad top to bottom that I would be surprised if it got more than a psa 5($2,500-$3,000) kind of price...probably less.

BRM,
I'm currently planning a large eBay listing of many vintage and high-ticket PSA and SGC graded cards. I'd be happy to take the card on consignment and list it for you.

Superior and Andy Madec have indicated they would take it. I haven't tried Mastro. I wanted opinions on trying eBay first, and I'm leaning that way. Obviously the OC discounts the value quite a bit; I guess time will tell how much. About a month ago I saw a similar PSA 8 (oc) 51B Mantle go for a price that would not make me lose sleep. MW1, thank you for your offer. I may want to try it on my own (I do a lot of biz on eBay, but not very high end stuff) but I would be interested in knowing about your listing.
Hey supapimp, Johnny's my boyhood hero, too. Fave memorabilia is a 16x20 photo of Bench, Rose, Perez, Morgan at the 1971 All-Star Game in Detroit, signed by all four. At least I'm pretty sure that's where the photo was taken. Those four Reds couldn't have been in Tiger Stadium any other time!
