What is up with beckett..every time i go to there website its NO NEWS and ALL BUY THIS AND BUY THAT from US....at THIS GRADE..... who can trust em... and it seems as if they themself have turned into the HOME SHOPPING NETWORK with that BCCG crapola.
the meek shall inherit the earth.... maybe not but i think SGC will inherit the card grading industry if they stick to morals and providing the best service for there CUSTOMERS... IVE SWITCHED.... hope more do too

Lothar,
Some of the low populations cards have already been sent to SGC. The rest of the NM or better examples we'll probably submit to SGC over the next year or so. Many of the sets in the Vg-Ex to EM range have already been sold to a variety of different hobby sources including dealers, collectors and even one auction house.

aconte,
Thanks for the reminder on the Red Mans (or is it Red Men?). As soon as I submit another group, I'll email a list to you.

Great story Mike. Even better cards. It's stories like this that give this hobby life. Congrats to you and relate more "find" stories as they happen.

oh the humanity!!!.... i was just looking at my 55 banks i just got today in the mail bought raw...its about as centered as the 56 aaron pic i got up and when going over the surface i noticed a fingernail impression... it was definitely a 6 before as the corners are better then the 56 aarons with 2 of the 4 being almost perfect. unbelieveable.. prolly get a 4 now.
doh!

Loth,
Nice card. How bad are the impressions because otherwise, it looks more like a 6 or 7.

its a fingernail impression..like someone had the card down on the table nad just put there fingernail downon the card very lightly and pressed enough to make a impression. Its visible when u turn the card into the light but otherwise you can see it and hence, it doent distract from the card. The lower left corner is perfect.. the top 2 corners have some slight touch and a wee bit on the bottom right. I bought this off ebay for 75 bucks reserve price. Some lady was selling it... im thinking its her damn fingerprint when she was putting the card in the holder... DAMN SHAME
for me.. 75 bucks for 4 WITH PERFECT CENTERING... its all i could ask for... i saw a 56 banks DP with centering raw go for 100 bucks the other day so this was still A DEAL
loth
-----never the less its a bit irritating cause i thought this bad boy was a SURE-FIRE 6 without that impression
there is just ONE fingernail dent on the card

the seller of the card had to say this about the fingernail :
"That was the way it was found in my friends attic. Hope you enjoy, Susan "
i guess its a recent find??? it certainly would grade a 6...possibly a 7 if that fingernail impression was not there.
i believe her story of just finding these.... her past auctions had NOTHING to do with cards at all

Loth,
It depends how deep it is and how much it detracts from the card's overall appearance. In some cases, a surface defect may lower the technical grade of a card by several grades, in other situations, it may only lower it half a grade.
