I'm considering submitting some 1955 and 1956's for grading. My only experience so far is with Beckett. They are pretty detailed in how to pack. I used Card Saver # 1, taped in cardboard, and double packed them. Any particular recommendations for SCG grading?

I do the same as you. I use Card Saver I's on most cards and Card Saver II's on the smaller issues (pre-war, T-cards, early Bowmans, etc.). Double-packing is also a good idea. I use one half of a large lucite screwdown on each side of the group of cards (if the group isn't too large) and rubber-band them securely.
It sounds like you're doing just fine!

Card savers seem real flimsy and I find it difficult to take cards in/out of them. The one time I sent cards to Beckett I originally put in Card Savers based upon their recommendation but then took them out to go in top loaders with an inner penny sleeve. I then taped the top to restrict movement. I then put thick cardboard between the 4 cards.
What are the pros/cons of Card Savers versus Top Loaders?

I keep it simple. Penny sleeve, top loader, and a mass of bubble wrap for each stack of 25. Ship in sturdy boxes with more bubble wrap or newspaper to immobilize stacks inside the box. Drop a copy of the invoice on top. Close top, address, tape and ship.

Ok, thanks. Seems careful packaging is the main criteria. And yea I have a hard time with Card Savers, especially the larger and heavier stocked 55s and 56s. Next question: seems there are multple return mail options vs Beckett's FEDEX only. Let's say I have 20 cards that I value at $2000. What is the better return mail optio? Also, what happens if anything if say my Koufax rookie gets a super high grade. Isn't it then under insured? Thanks again.

What I have done for cards that I think are either locks for a higher cross-over grade or some real nice raw vintage - I use SGC's price guide or other list to approximate the value of the card at the grade that I think the cards will come back as. Maybe not the best approach, but I don't think it is a good idea to insured raw cards for what you paid for them, especially when they have a real shot at a high slab grade.
In terms of return postage - I almost always select Fedex. I believe there is an additional $1 charge if the insured value exceeds $500 or maybe a grand. I can't remember. But the coverage seems to be quite high. MW1 or some of the larger ticket item collectors will be able to answer this question.

So, just FEDEX charge plus a dollar per additional $500. Registered mail fee only applies to USPS? Order form confused me a bit, but I'm an old man so I have excuses. Thanks.

Yes sir,
Basic FedEx gets you $500 insurance and each additional dollar fgets you an additional $500 insurance. You probably need to make it clear on the invoice that you are asking for additional insurance.
