I see that certain people are already speaking as if they know how GAI's finances are and as though they know EVERYTHING about our hobby?????????? I think if it does happen and Steve has a big say in running a "NEWLY MERGED company these people will probably be forced to BGS or one of the other companies as Steve will not do business with them. I guess then we would see alot of vintage in PRO holders and they would probably go to PRO's site and talk 'em up over there. As for the source of the "rumor" post on the CU boards the originator is far more credible than certain people here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say that if this "fish storie" is true and GAI and SGC did merge i for one would drop SGC like a rock! I do not like the GAI holders, or the silver flip and from the limited time ive talked to any of them i dont care much for the staff ether. Ive even tried to cross-over five GAI cards to PSA and three of the five came back one grade lower. Im sure im not the only person who thinks this way about GAI and i think it will be a dark day for SGC if they do merge.
Just my two cents.

Superpunk,
In mathematics, if we set an expression equal to zero, we call the solution the "root" of the equation.
In this case, if we set the probability of GAI "buying out" SGC equal to zero, we find that Steve Rocchi is the "root" of the problem.
Hope that helps!
As for the GAI holders, I agree with you. I think they are inferior to SGC holders; but don't worry -- you'll never have to gaze upon their ugly lucite countenances as long as you submit to SGC!

I have to say that I know nothing about GAI's financial situation.
I have been troubled by the buy-out rumor and spoke with someone in Parsippany yesterday. I promised that I would not talk publicly about my discussion, but I was put at ease enough to send in an invoice with 165 cards today. I do not think I am Nero fiddling while Rome burns (at least I hope I am not).

Scott,
You have made a very wise decision. SGC is the hobby's #1 company for the accurate grading of vintage sports cards and it will remain that way for many years to come.
Best of luck on your submissions!

With PSA going through rough times, and GA still trying to find a way to move up the grading food chain, you have these rumors. It distracts from these problems. It also shows the attractiveness of SGC that folks trying to glaum onto them.
The really thing funny thing is, SGC's owner has oodles of cash and a far flung business career/interests. The concept of him being "bought out" (empahsis on BOUGHT OUT) is a real laugher. C'mon, at least call it strategic alliance between industry visionaries or some such thing.

Finally, this pathetic rumor has been put to sleep. Now people on the Grading Titanic can go ahead and lie about something else to distract themselves from the iceberg.
