I've been trying to buy SGC 96 cards from the 1950's on ebay. Mostly looking for commons type players (can't afford the HOF'ers). I am trying to refine my search. Whenever I search I only get 2 or 3 hits. Any suggestions on how to bring up more SGC 96 cards on ebay?

You can try SGC96. But that might not bring good results either.
Most of these cards are probably in collections or on dealers "for
sale list."

Your other option might be to type in Psa 9. Then if you see
something that looks nice and you really want it you can take a
chance and buy it in hopes of crossover to Sgc. But there is
no guarantee that it will cross.

And what dealers have these cards for sale?? Please let me know. I've been to BMW's web site. Not many SGC 96's from the 50's that fit my needs. I've been to a few other sites. I see PSA and GAI MINT cards, but nothing in SGC. My particular needs are 1958-1962 Topps baseball.

you've got a tough job! MINT cards, especially commons, from the years that you are interested in are not exactly common...and I'd wager that close to 90% of the ones that exist are in PSA holders. Once their registry got going, it seemed to get alot of nice cards out of closets and into slabs. You might try tccardco.com -- TC is a nice guy and has a reasonably good SGC inventory...and nothing earlier than '69, if my memory serves me correctly. I bet he doesn't have commons, but he might have some minor stars.

I have to agree with aconte and srs1a on strategies for seeking out 1958 - 1962 SGC 96 commons. I honestly don't know where you will find any. TC doesn't have any - I do a fair share of my purchases thru him and I know mint commons isn't really his market. What BMW has on his website is only the tip of the iceberg. I have spoken with them about availability of SGC graded commons from the early '50s - and they have the raw card inventory - but I was not successful in ever getting a list out of them or convincing them to submit cards to SGC so I could purchase at a later date.

Here's why I'm bringing this up - MW1 was an asset to this board - because it allowed a collector like myself to establish a relationship, on some level, with a guy who could directly help me build my collection. I have nothing to back up my statement - but I think BMW is sitting on an absolute ton of high grade raw vintage cards. The kind of material that would be incredibly hard to find - your SGC 96's from 1958 - 1962 and my 1950's Bowmans in SGC 88 and/or higher.

Without a source for raw cards - your taking on a tough task of finding SGC96 in the years you have listed on Ebay or any other dealer website. You will build a collection - but at an incredibly slow pace. Patience is a virtue.

Good post. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some of the nice red man's
BMW has will be graded soon. I've thought about buying them raw if
available but I never really inquired into the details with them about this.
They have a lot of quality stuff.

1960 Topps Del Crandall SGC 96

There is also a 1960 Topps Michey Mantle AS SGC 96 currently being auctioned on Ebay ... but I wouldn't exactly call that one a common ...
