Hey does anybody know if they are going to EXTEND the SGC Set Registry Grading Special??? THere is talk on the PSA board about how great a deal this is compared to PSA... I would hate to see it end...i wish it would become part of there regular service its such a great deal

I think it will not be extended. Three reasons:

1) I received an email last week with the header "Last Chance for Registry Special"

2) I received a mailer with a special of $5 for crossover for April

3) I think three dollars was great to snag some business and try to build
up their pops. However, I can't see how Sgc was making money doing this.
At some point prices need to be set with profit in mind. I've noticed Psa
prices for crossover are $10 and their recent special is more pricey. I think
we will see some specials with price and turnaround time in the future. I
just think that some will not be offered all the time. It would not be a special
then.

Maybe this is a good chance to go through Psa commons and get them submitted
before the end of March. After all, the weather is getting better too. This
will make us spend more time outside instead of inside searching for
crossover canidates.

I'm with aconte -- I think that it is over on 3/31. The $3 x-over deal was really sweet, but hard to imagine that it was profitable. The grading specials were also nice, but not a whole lot better that their "economy buster" special which has run for a while (on pre-70s cards, anyway). While the ecomony buster is also supposed to end on 3/31, I'd bet that there will be something similar that will start.

It seem like they are pretty busy in Parsippany these days -- I know none of my orders have come back early for a while -- and I think several others on the board have the same experience. As long as they stay busy, I wouldn't expect to see set registry prices any time soon.

aconte -- I didn't get a mailer with a $5 x-over offer...could you post the details?

I'll try to post a scan or give the details of what I got tonight some time.
I don't have the mailer on me.

I got a 10 day special (I guess not including weekends) in about 13 or
14 days. I was on the road so not sure of the exact day I received it.
And I guess it would be even better since you don't count days in the
mail. I was happy with the turnaround. To me if it's close I have no
problem. I would be happy with 30 days or less on that type of special.
It's all good!

Plus their customer service gave me an answer right away
when I called to ask questions. I didn't get a will call you back or no response.

thanks aconte. IMHO, $5 for a x-over is still a good deal. I'm sitting on a couple of PSA-8's...but have raw cards of the same at SGC now. If the grades turn out OK, I'll move the 8's along...if not, a x-over is now $5 instead of $3, so only a small delta. thanks again!

Jim, VaYank is correct -- all slabs. Personally, I've done PSA, BGS, BVG, SCD and even one SBC card! (you sure don't see many of these around anymore).

Thanks for all your replies - I sent off 15 various PSA 6 cards from 1956 Topps.
Also sent in a clemente BVG 6 - the subgrades were cetering 5.5 corners 7 edges 7 surface 7.5 - curious as to what it will end up at.

Also, I hope my parcel gets there Monday - I wonder if it gets there Tuesday will the honor the $3 crossover special. Hope so...

as long as the package is sent in by monday ... they said they will HONOR the deal..that means the post office postmarks it when you go to ship it out.. AS LONG AS MONDAY 3/31 or before is on there.. YOUR SETat 3 dollars

when you get them back please add all scans to the set registry so we can check them out!!!!! no use having a set registry if you can see peoples cards..people on PSA registry should be shot for not putting every card up there to see!!!
