That about says it all. Curious to know because I remeber them being pretty tough graders unlike PRO and some other companies. Have any of you swaped CSA cards into SGC or PSA holders?

I have not crossed over CSA to SGC, but i have bought a few. For the most part, I thought the grades weren't so far off. Expect a 1/2 to full grade lower, but I don't regret pruchasing them.

I know they arent KRAP like Pro. Ive heard of CSA 10s crossing over to SGC 98s and PSA 10s but I want to hear others opinions too!

My experience is a single card -- a '71 league leaders with Gibson, Jenkins and Perry...it was a CSA-7.5 and I bought it without seeing a scan. The card is a very weak 7, at best, with alot of chipping on the black borders. I bought the card a while ago (it is in a big blue clunker of a holder), so don't have any more recent information. Given this experience, it was the last CSA card that I bought.

I'm with VaYank -- based on my limited experience, if you're planning on x-ing over to one of the major companies, expect to get hammered.

dropping a half grade isnt really a "hammering". Some of the Pro cards Ive seen graded would be fortunate not to be dropped 2 grades. Now thats a hammerin'!

The majority of PRO-graded cards won't even get into another holder. Go ahead and buy all the CSA stuff you want -- IMHO, they won't cross well.

I wont buy a CSA card unless I can see it first. I remember them grading quite well on par with PSA. Im in the process of testing this theory. I hope im right! I know how to grade. I was offered a full time grading job at one of the larger grading companies that I had to decline.

Phatty Patty has also defied logic by being able to type without any brain matter at all in his Phat head. It's a scientific oddity, really. His typing still doesn't make any sense......but the fact that he can type at all is quite remarkable.

I know the industry well young lad. Ive been collecting cards for 25 years and I was offered a job as a grader. Four years ago CSA was a decent company so im wondering why people are so quick to bash them. Beckett was new at the time so i cant really comment on them. I always avoided Pro like the plague and I cant believe how many fly by night grading disservices have come along in just 4 years. Also, if you cant find anything of relevance to offer towards my posts then dont bother replying.

Four years ago, you could find CSA slabs, but now it is like they dropped off the earth. I do not know if they are still slabbing even. Maybe I'll do an eBay search later....

Yank is correct, they have fallen off the face of the earth.

A search of eBAY revealed a grand total of 24 cards. I found it interesting how many different holders that there were...

in their most recent, they have included subgrades...and a 6 for corners can still get you a 7 final grade

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2719681532&category=2930

An earlier version is a butt-ugly "blue brick" without subgrades (I have one of these and can honestly say that it is the worst looking holder EVER)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2720507615&category=16273

Even earlier designs include:

All I can say is that from MY experience, i would definitely trust CSA over all of the other grading services sans the big three (PSA,SGC,BGS). I guess I would have to putthem in the middle somewhere.

soltrick, phatty was just kidding about all the name-calling...it’s just that phatty had something bad happen this last weekend and is still upset. after arriving back from a brief excursion to guadalajara, phatty noticed that salami, phatty’s new pet beaver had chewed the lock off of phatty’s meat freezer and had ravaged the contents. phatty got mad and told salami that he had better get his a$$ out of the freezer or he was going to end up as shish-kabobs. Phatty really regretted what he had said and in hindsight, knew that he had spoken rashly...phatty was in much more of a fish and white wine mood that particular evening.

here’s a picture of that rascal salami:
