I know that SGC and BGS had them long before PSA. It's been my experience that SGC will hand out and 86 or 92 alot quicker than PSA will give the .5 grade. Not much experience with BGS. If the card isnt centered well for the grade you can forget the .5 at PSA it seems to me that they don't like giving the half grade. SGC on the other hand seems to take the card as a whole. I have numerous SGC cards in 86 that I'm positive would sit in PSA 7 holders but have recently crossed some SGC 7's that were nicely centered on three differnt sub's and they were the card that received the bump.

In short the half grades are unpredictable to me and probably always will be. How does everyone else feel about them?
