As I was surfing through the various sets in the new SGC Registry, it seemed to me that there were some memorable and forgettable #1 cards (first card in set) created by Topps, Bowman and all the rest.

The #1 card for the 1962 Topps set was Roger Maris. In the previous year, Maris hit 61 home runs which added value and distinction to his '62 Topps card. Today, this #1 card is highly sought after (and tough to find) in quality condition.

If memory serves, the #1 card for the 1966 Topps set is Willie Mays, and is also in high demand.

And I'm sure there are others from other sets.

What's the best ... and from what set ... ?
