SGC is a premier sports card authenticator and grader known for its accuracy and consistency. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., the company provides independent, third-party appraisal of trading card condition, the single most important factor in determining a card's value.

Each trading card submitted to SGC is examined by three expert graders before being encapsulated in a sealed, tamper-resistant plastic holder. Acid-free, museum-quality black paper is custom-cut to frame the card, and an insert lists the card's year, quality and SGC certification number.
